When your business is ready to grow into new technology, we help you choose what fits.

Most of our work is about reducing what you're already spending. But businesses don't only need cost reduction — they need to grow into new technology over time. Cost reduction work surfaces what's not working in your current environment; strategic technology work helps you decide what comes next without selling you a platform. ServiceNow, ERP modernization, cloud transformation, data and analytics tooling — we help you evaluate options, structure the engagement, and avoid the common procurement mistakes that lock you into bad-fit platforms.

The strategic technology categories where vendor-neutral advisory produces results.

Service now advisory

For organizations considering ServiceNow, expanding ServiceNow scope, or evaluating ServiceNow against alternatives. We help with platform fit assessment, module selection, contract negotiation, and implementation partner selection. We don't implement ServiceNow ourselves — that's the work of dedicated implementation partners — but we help you evaluate whether ServiceNow is right for your environment and structure the engagement to produce results.

ERP selection and modernization

For organizations evaluating ERP replacement or significant modernization. ERP decisions are some of the highest-stakes technology decisions a business makes — long implementation timelines, significant capital commitment, and operational disruption during transition. We help with vendor selection (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, Workday, Infor, and others), contract negotiation, and implementation partner selection. We don't implement ERP — we help you structure the work to succeed.

Cloud transformation

For organizations moving from on-premises to cloud, expanding cloud adoption, or restructuring cloud architecture for scale. We help with strategy assessment, hyperscaler selection (AWS, Azure, GCP), commitment structure negotiation, and migration partner selection. We work alongside your internal cloud and IT teams, focused on the procurement and contractual side of cloud transformation.

Data and analytics tooling

For organizations building or modernizing data platforms — data warehouses, lakehouses, BI tooling, data governance platforms. The vendor landscape in data and analytics is among the most crowded in technology, with significant variation in fit by use case and scale. We help with vendor evaluation, contract negotiation, and structural decisions.

Other strategic technology categories

When clients are evaluating significant new technology investments — major SaaS platforms, integration platforms, customer-facing applications — we provide vendor-neutral advisory on selection, contracting, and partner engagement.

Advisory, not implementation.

Our strategic technology work is advisory. We don’t implement ServiceNow, install ERP systems, or migrate cloud workloads. Those activities require dedicated implementation expertise that’s typically delivered by the platform vendor’s professional services organization or by specialist implementation partners.

What we do is the work that comes before and around implementation:

Platform fit assessment

Is this the right platform for your environment? What are the alternatives? What’s the realistic scope of the platform’s value for your operations? Where will it produce results, and where will it underperform? This work draws on engagement experience across multiple platforms in each category.

Which vendor, which edition, which module structure? How do the major options compare for your specific environment? What are the contract terms and total cost implications of each? We help you make these decisions with vendor-neutral analysis — not influenced by reseller relationships.

The contract negotiation work we do across other categories applies fully to strategic technology decisions. Major platform contracts (ServiceNow, Oracle, SAP, Salesforce, ERP vendors) carry meaningful negotiation opportunities at the initial signing and at every renewal cycle.

For most strategic technology platforms, implementation is delivered by partners — not by the platform vendor itself, and not by Unravyl. We help you evaluate and select the right implementation partner, structure the implementation engagement, and negotiate the implementation contract.

After implementation begins, we can stay involved in a governance and oversight role — monitoring scope, managing change orders, providing client-side advisory through the implementation lifecycle. This is optional and scope-dependent.

The catalysts that typically trigger this work.

An ERP replacement decision is approaching — assessment, vendor selection, contract negotiation, partner selection

ServiceNow is being considered or expanded — fit assessment, module selection, contract structure

A major cloud migration is being planned — strategy, hyperscaler selection, commitment structure

A significant data platform investment is being evaluated — vendor selection across a crowded landscape

An implementation has stalled or underperformed — diagnosis, structural correction, partner change if needed

Most strategic technology engagements run alongside or after cost reduction engagements — clients engage us for cost work, then bring us in for strategic decisions because the working relationship is already established.

A few honest limitations.

We don’t:

  • Implement platforms: ServiceNow, ERP, cloud migration, data platforms — implementation is the work of specialist partners. We help select them; we don’t replace them.
  • Sell licenses: No reseller relationships, no commissions, no kickbacks from any vendor we recommend.
  • Provide IT strategy in the broadest sense: We’re focused on cost reduction and on the strategic technology categories listed above. We’re not a general technology strategy consulting firm.
  • Provide management consulting beyond technology cost and procurement: Org design, business strategy, M&A advisory — outside our scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you reselling ServiceNow, ERP platforms, or any other software?

No. We don't have reseller relationships with ServiceNow, the major ERP vendors, hyperscalers, or any other software vendor we evaluate or recommend. Our economics come from client engagement fees, not from vendor commissions.

We have professional relationships with implementation partners we may recommend, but we don't take commissions, finder's fees, or kickbacks from any implementation partner. Our recommendations are based on fit for the client's situation.

No. Implementation is outside our scope. We help you select the right implementation partner, negotiate the implementation contract, and provide governance through the implementation lifecycle if you want client-side advisory.

This is a common situation. We can come in mid-implementation to diagnose the problems, restructure scope and partner engagement, and provide client-side oversight to get the implementation back on track. Sometimes the diagnosis is that the wrong platform was selected — we'll tell you honestly if that's the case, though the right response depends on how far the implementation has gone.

Many clients engage us first for cost reduction, then extend into strategic technology decisions. The working relationship is already established, we have visibility into the existing environment, and the cost reduction findings often inform the strategic decisions. The opposite sequence — strategic engagement first, then cost work — also happens.

Big consulting firms (Deloitte, Accenture, IBM, Capgemini) provide strategic technology advisory at enterprise scale with strong vendor relationships — frequently including implementation services that follow the strategy work. The advisory and the implementation are bundled, which creates conflicts. Our model separates advisory from implementation. We advise; specialist partners implement; we have no financial stake in which implementation partner you select.

The same range as our cost reduction work — $5M to $5B in revenue. Strategic technology decisions for smaller organizations typically focus on platform selection and contract negotiation; for larger organizations, the work expands into multi-vendor coordination, governance structures, and longer engagement durations.
